Glenshee Munros August 2016

So as we had to cancel a trip away in the caravan,i found myself with an extra Scotland trip in the offing

On a winter trip a few years ago,we dropped Meall Greigh, from the Ben Lawers group, due to very deep snow.So we decided to do it on our travel up day.Did get a cracking dawn at camp, think it was Nov 2013

So on the drive up from Penrith we decide to just nab this one as a short day walk.Weather was mixed but mainly sunny but a fierce wind chased us off and 500 ft down the summit

This was one of a few gusts !

Then it was an hours drive to our B&B for the night the Red house at Ballintium, near Blairgowrie, great stay and a huge breakfast and all for £25 pp  we will be back I think. The numbers 01250 886217,Oscar made another fan too

Last Meal !

A short drive then took us to Spittal of Glenshee, a short drive up the road took us to Dalmunzie hotel were you can park for £2.50 a day

It was a very humid day so I had got Oscar into a few pools before this pic,but sadly he came out covered in mud out of one of them, which then dried. So when we crossed this stream I spent five minutes washing off, safe to say my hands were cold by the time id washed him off again

I wont go on about the route as theres a map and link at the bottom of this blog, plus its easy to follow on the video

We camped on the spot height 818m between Beinn lutharn Mhor and Carn Bac,which we did after we had pitched. For note all the ground was a bit rough around here but theres a great large patch of flat ground right on the spot height of 818m

We had seen some deer groups through the day but as we returned to our camp from Carn Bhac we spotted a huge herd, I would say at least 150 strong, always great to watch these animals cover ground so easily

After a warm humid day it was great to sit out with Whisky and food, luckily our pitch caught some breeze which kept the beasties away

Oscar was feeling his Nine ish odd years too

My new inner from Ron at MLD was a perfect fit and worked realy well under my trusty Trailstar

Can just make out our shelters as we returned from Carn Bhac

Sadly we got no sunset and only a little colour in the morning

Got to love a flame for first brew

Packing up in the Morning

The next morning started with a sharp steep climb up onto Beinn lutharn Mhor, think it was 15 years ago when I first did these hills

The views at first were a little misty but soon cleared out again

Loch nan Eun was still as a mill pond, and had some rough ground surrounding it all directions

As we had made good time we decided to add on Carn a Gheoidh, after we had bagged An Socach.Which gave Lee six new munros and seven with the one we did on the day up

A steep drop off put us in the lovely and huge valley of Gleann Taitneach

Heres a link to the route and a picture of the route
